Michael L. Grossman is the Supervising Attorney at Cohen & Grossman, Attorneys at Law, responsible for managing the Cohen Grossman insurance claim division as well as overseeing general litigation. Michael joined the firm in February, 2011 following practice as a solo practitioner. He has participated in the litigation of over 1,000 insurance claims in Florida, and spearheaded Cohen Grossman's expansion into new areas of law, including employment law, collective actions, and landlord-tenant disputes. Several of his published cases can be found in LexisNexis, Westlaw and Florida Law Weekly.
Michael hails from Cleveland, Ohio, where he earned his J.D. in 2006 from Cleveland-Marshall College of Law, and his B.A. in philosophy from John Carroll University in 2003. As a law student, Michael served as President of the C-M National Lawyers Guild from 2003 - 2006. While attending JCU, he earned over a dozen outstanding speaker awards and tournament championships as a nationally ranked member of his university's intercollegiate debate team. He continued on as a volunteer assistant coach, who earned an American Debate Association National Championship in 2006.
Michael's commitment to his community and the pursuit of justice throughout his professional and academic careers is beyond reproach. He has been an active volunteer for the Coalition for the Homeless, Second Harvest Food Bank, community media projects, Cleveland Community Preservation Project, and countless other public interest organizations for over a decade. He has been recognized by the Cleveland Plain Dealer and Free Times for his efforts helping the homeless, unemployed and working poor, and was awarded the Cleveland-Marshall College of Law Public Service Award in 2005 and 2006. Michael was also a repeated guest on Cleveland's Fox 8 news in 2002, and a speaker at the 2006 ACLU Student Conference on Civil Liberties.
Michael's passion for law and infectious charisma are among the many qualities he brings to the table for each case and every client. In his spare time, Michael is a tennis instructor and performs stand-up comedy, enjoys running, cooking and golf, and is a skilled guitarist and drummer.
He is a member in good standing with the Florida Bar Association, Orange County Bar Association, and US District Courts for the Southern and Middle Districts of Florida.
